Non-Licensed Removal Works (incl. Notifiable)

Increasing remediation skills required for safe conduct of NLW works (including notifiable).

Course Overview

This 1-day training course aims to build on existing skills in remediation work by applying Asbestos safe working principles to situations where ACMs may be present.

For contractors, networks and restorers whose work may include minor work with asbestos (NLW), bSure offers a ‘members only’, licencing scheme, enabling you to carry out (Notifiable) Non-Licensed Removal Work in accordance with CAR 2012. This 1-day training course aims to build on technicians existing skills in remediation work by applying Asbestos safe working principles to situations where ACMs may be present.

This training consists of two sessions; the first covering theory and regulations; the second, practical elements.

Course Contents

  • Recap of the asbestos awareness course
  • What work you are permitted to carry out by law
  • What the law requires you to do
  • Procedures you must follow to protect yourself

The second session is delivered according to your own bespoke requirements and will be task specific (i.e. clearing up textured coating debris following a collapse etc.).

It will be a practical session in which we address how NLW is carried out in different situations and will be followed by our trainer supervising your technicians, as they practise the following:

  • Wearing RPE/PPE
  • Carrying out personal decontamination procedures
  • Bagging/wrapping asbestos waste
  • Task specific work techniques (i.e. removal techniques, wetting asbestos, using a H type vacuum cleaner
    etc.)

In addition, assistance will be provided with the completion of bSure documentation, preparing method statements and performing risk assessments.

Upon completion of the course, a certificate of attendance will be provided to each technician and a handbook will be supplied to the business owner.

This course is intended to give workers and supervisors the information they need to carry out Non-Licensed work with Asbestos. It will not prepare workers, or self-employed contractors, to disturb any licensable asbestos-containing materials.
